Why the Inland Northwest?

The Inland Northwest has been a pioneer in clean energy for over a century, harnessing hydropower, leveraging start-ups, advancing research, and using alternative energy sources. INTENT will build upon the region's strengths and leverage existing resources and assets to accelerate energy innovation that is safe, clean, affordable, equitable, and reliable.

The Inland Northwest's unique geography and societies, coupled with its research and educational capabilities make it ideally suited to accelerate energy innovation and entrepreneurship. The region’s research community is world-class, housing two national laboratories, two top-tier research universities, and an innovative investor-owned utility. These institutions continuously collaborate with leading industry manufacturers.

The Inland Northwest has a strong base, including low-cost natural resources, for energy innovation and development INTENT will leverage to drive progress across the region.
